Meryl is the initial point of contact with Restorative Justice Aotearoa. Meryl’s role with RJA is a flexible position, so feel free to contact her at anytime. However the most likely time to get Meryl in person is during her set office hours on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9am and 12 noon. RJA has its own direct line into Meryl’s home and whether she is working or not the answer machine is checked at least once at day.

Mark Burton, Consultant
Mark Burton provides a limited but vital consultancy service to RJA.
Mark brings a wide mix of community development, education and political background and experience to his role with RJA. Following a period of fifteen years as a Member of Parliament, including eight as a Cabinet Minister and Deputy Leader of the House, he is now undertaking organisational and professional development consultancy/projects, with a particular focus on working with organisations with a strong social justice and/or community development ethos.
For the 11 years prior to entering Parliament, Mark worked with, helped establish, and supported a wide range of community, educational, and social service agencies and programmes across the central North Island and nationally in his role as Community Education Organiser with Central Plateau REAP. These ranged from adult literacy programmes, budget services, social services peer supervision groups and work support trusts, to early childhood education groups, anti-violence programmes, children’s conflict resolution and peer mediation programmes locally; to chairing a regional employment training Council and serving on the Board establishing the New Zealand wide Careers Education Service
Mark has maintained a strong interest in and direct involvement with numerous community programmes and organisations through practical roles as varied as membership of the English Language Partners (formerly ESOL) committee, to serving as Patron of Turangi Budget Advisory Service and Turangi Wanderers Junior Soccer Club, to being a founding trustee of Taupo Sexual Assault Counselling Service and the Taupo Employment Support Trust, and serving as President and Patron of Japan Karate NZ.
